detectives recently seized a total of eight double shot key-ring pistols, a machine pistol with silencer, a 9mm automatic pistol, a quantity of ammunition, an amount of methamphetamine and other drugs.

Asian Crime Squad detectives have charged two men so far out of six arrested today during an organised crime operation targeting the alleged trafficking of illegal firearms and drugs.

Asian Crime Squad detectives, with assistance from the Professional Standards Command, Tactical Operations Unit, Public Order Riot Squad and South West Region Enforcement Squad, executed nine simultaneous search warrants at various locations across Sydney.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at Strathfield and taken to Campsie Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, possess prohibited drug, participate in a criminal group and assist with criminal activity.

He has been bail refused and appeared at Burwood Local Court today where he was refused bail to re-appear at Burwood Local Court on Friday 18 March, 2011.

A 28-year-old man was arrested by police at Villawood and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with supply indictable quantity of prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug, sell prohibited firearm to unauthorised person and participate in a criminal group.

He was refused bail and appeared at Fairfield Local Court today where he was refused bail to re-appear at Central Local Court on 22 March, 2011.

Four other men were arrested today including a 30-year-old man at Marrickville who was taken to Newtown Police Station, a 21-year-old man at Wattlegrove who was taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station, a 28-year-old man at Hinchinbrook who was taken to Green Valley Police Station, and a 29-year-old man arrested at Homebush and taken to Flemington Police Station. Charges are expected to be laid.

During today’s warrants police located and seized a .38 calibre revolver, a replica pistol, an air rifle, a large quantity of ammunition, small quantities of ICE, methamphetamine, heroin and cannabis, alleged fake credit cards and a sum of cash.

Three clandestine drug laboratories were also uncovered by police including two at separate locations in Marrickville and one at Homebush containing large quantities of drugs and related chemicals.
